Part Three of the Puncak Jalil Heritage Series: Building a Township Together

A township does not stop growing once the last house is completed.

Its future depends on something equally important — collaboration.

For Puncak Jalil, that collaboration has come through the combined efforts of residents, community leaders, local authorities and elected representatives who continue to shape the township long after its foundations were laid by Talam Transform Berhad.

For Encik Zainuddin, President of Persatuan Penduduk Puncak Jalil, community leadership has always meant more than raising complaints. It means understanding the needs of residents, engaging with decision-makers and helping ensure that development keeps pace with a growing population.

Throughout our conversation, one name surfaced repeatedly — YB Ng Sze Han, ADUN Kinrara.

Encik Zainuddin described a close working relationship built over many years. As someone who has witnessed Puncak Jalil’s growth from its earliest days, he regularly shares local knowledge, community concerns and practical priorities with the area’s elected representative.

That cooperation has contributed to tangible outcomes.

Among them is the planned construction of a new national primary school in Puncak Jalil, a project intended to meet the needs of the township’s growing number of young families. According to Encik Zainuddin, the proposal has received approval in principle and represents another important milestone in the township’s continuing development.

The partnership extends beyond education.

Working together with the local council, the Residents’ Association successfully relocated roadside hawkers into a dedicated hawker centre, creating a safer and more organised environment for traders, motorists and residents alike.

These improvements illustrate an important truth about township building.

Developers establish the foundations. Residents build the community. Local authorities provide governance. Elected representatives help bring public investment and policy support.

When each fulfils its role, a township continues to grow long after construction ends.

Today, Puncak Jalil is recognised as one of the region’s established residential communities. Its success reflects not only thoughtful planning by Talam Transform Berhad, but also years of cooperation between the people who chose to call it home and those entrusted with helping it flourish.
