Honouring a Legacy: FIABCI’s Property Man of the Year 1998

The history of a company is often shaped by the people whose vision laid its foundations.

For Talam Transform Berhad, one of those figures was Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Ir. Chan Ah Chye, whose contributions to Malaysia’s property and construction industry were recognised on the national stage.

In 1998, Tan Sri Chan was conferred FIABCI Malaysia’s “Property Man of the Year” award, recognising his leadership, achievements and contribution to the growth of Malaysia’s real estate sector.

The recognition came at a time when Malaysia’s property industry was undergoing significant transformation, acknowledging individuals whose work had left a lasting impact on township development and the built environment.

Throughout his career, Tan Sri Chan was closely associated with the planning and development of integrated townships that sought to combine residential neighbourhoods, commercial centres and community infrastructure. Many of these developments continue to serve residents and businesses today, reflecting the long-term nature of township planning.

Awards recognise achievements at a particular moment in time, but a lasting legacy is measured differently. It is reflected in the communities that continue to thrive, the businesses that continue to operate and the families who continue to call these townships home.

As Talam Transform Berhad continues writing its next chapter, it is equally important to preserve and acknowledge the milestones that form part of the company’s history. Recognising those who helped shape that journey is also a way of recognising the communities that grew from their vision.

Historical note: Tan Sri Dato’ Dr. Ir. Chan Ah Chye was awarded FIABCI Malaysia’s Property Man of the Year in 1998 in recognition of his achievements and leadership in Malaysia’s property and construction industry.
